Athletic Mic League

Athletic Mic League is a seven member Hip Hop collective from Michigan that began in 1996 (with roots starting earlier than that). Its members include: Wes Taylor, 14KT, Jamall Bufford, Mayer Hawthorn, Vaughan T, Tres Styles, and Grand Cee. Members of the collective include DJs, MCs, beatmakers, designers, community activists, and sound engineers. Over the years the group has pioneered software based beat making and pre-social media internet engagement. The collective has performed all over the world, placed songs on major video game releases, scored films, and has had commisions with clients with brands such as Rebok. Individual members have been signed to labels such as Sony, Stonesthrow, and Republic. The collective recently ended a 15 year hiatus recording and distributing newly recorded releases. Individual members continue to make an impact on the music industry including: Grammy award nominations, working and touring with major artists and public figures including: Pharrell Williams, Bruno Mars, Black Thought, Yasin Bey (Mos Def), Doja Cat, Emile Hanynie, Underground Resistance, Carl Craig, Benny the Butcher, Boldy James, DJ Rhetmatic (Beat Junkies), Souls of Mischief, Kendrick Lamar, MED, Depak Chopra, and Jay Electronica (to name a few).
